Some pictures of Puzhehei village

Presentation of the village of Puzhehei

Called the “Little Guilin” of Yunnan, the village of Puzhehei is located 310 km from Kunming. It is now only 1 hour by fast train to reach this very beautiful region where fields of lotus flowers predominate. Superb spectacle from June, when the lotus flowers dot the river.
A place still preserved and unknown to mass tourism, there are several “family guesthouses” in the heart of the Yi village of Xianrendong benefiting from a spectacular view of the river and its neighboring sugar loaves. Superb sunset to immortalize.
We recommend a small family-run guesthouse located on site facing the river and its spectacular sugar loaves. There are stunning views from the rooms overlooking the landscape – 2nd floor. The simple but clean rooms are equipped with two single beds and a private bathroom with shower and Turkish toilet. With a restaurant on the ground floor open to the river, you can easily dine on site, many dishes are available.
You can also visit the Yi village of Puzhehei on foot, where you can still find a few women with bound feet, and stroll through the crops and rice fields along the river.
On site, you can opt for a ticket for 262RMB per person, which includes the cruise on all the sites in the region. A new ticket of 98RMB per person is to be added to visit a large one which has been “remade” with a very psychedelic play of lights, see below.
The boat cruise is a “must” to have a unique approach to the surrounding nature, superb shots depending on the daylight. We disembark from the small boat on foot to visit the torch cave (huobadong), the Guanyin cave (Guanyingdong) and the immortal cave (Xianrendong). Note that we can access the caves on foot through the crops but the entrance fee will be paid on site anyway.
Our suggestion
Puzhehei being only 2 hours round trip from Kunming, this could be the opportunity for you, if you have time with a free day in Kunming (for example at the very end of your trip), to make a round trip there during the day to enjoy an additional experience and end your stay in style!
When to visit Puzhehei?
From June to September due to the impressive lotus bloom during this period.
How to get to Puzhehei?
For a round trip from Kunming during the day, we recommend the following fast trains:
Kunmingnan (new South Station of the city) – Puzhehei: Train D3816 departure 9:23; arrival 10:32 (1h09 journey)
Puzhehei – Kunmingnan (new South Station of the city): Train D3831 departure 17:15; arrival 18:13 (0h58 journey)
We can provide transfer from your hotel to the station in the morning, as well as for your return in the evening. Allow 45 minutes to 1 hour of travel depending on traffic. Allow the equivalent of approximately €20 per person for your round trip ticket. You also have the option of departing and/or returning via Kunming city center station, however the train schedules are less suited to optimizing the time spent visiting the Puzhehei site.
