Xishuangbanna is a region of great cultural diversity. Villages of different ethnic groups are scattered all over the countryside. You can learn more about their history in museums or books, but this can never replace your own discovery of the villages, their authentic life and culture.

The villages of different minorities have very different traditions, lifestyles, traditional clothes, dialects and cultures. However, they all share some common values ​​such as friendship, hard work and simplicity. While the urban population is very individualistic and suspicious, harmony has been preserved within these communities.

Although very beautiful, you will not be amazed by the landscapes in Xishuangbanna or by incredible historical relics, but the traditional life that is organized around these ethnic villages is worth the detour in itself. You can easily stroll through the villages and their houses to have a drink or simply chat with its inhabitants. Their honest smiles will be the most beautiful sign of hospitality.
