Located at the border of Myanmar,
Laos and Vietnam, Xishuangbanna represents
the tropical part of China. Full with tropical
rain forests, monsoon jungles, rice fields,
palm trees, sugar cane and tea fields, bamboo
trees and beautiful minorities’ villages,
we can feel here like in South East Asia.
But we are still in China, even if Chinese
Han people only count here as 30% of the
population. Jinghong, the capital of Xishuangbanna
is not the main attraction here. Directly
head out to the countryside, and meet the
lovely Dai people in their lovely hidden
villages that you can reach on a trekking.
Xishuangbanna is also full of other interesting
minorities (Hani, Lahu, Yi, Bulang, Jinuo,
Yao). Enough to keep you busy for a few
days.
