The Mu Palace, located in the heart of Lijiang’s Old Town, is an architectural gem that reflects the grandeur of Naxi history. Formerly the residence of the Mu family chieftains who ruled the area during the Ming Dynasty, the palace is an example of the blend of Chinese and Tibetan architectural styles. Surrounded by lush gardens, elegant pavilions and serene ponds, the site offers an immersion in local culture and history. Visitors can admire intricately decorated sculptures, murals and woodwork, reflecting the artistic refinement of the period. From the palace’s terraces, the panoramic view of the old town and surrounding mountains is spectacular.
