Presentation of the Laomadian Lodge hotel
Laomadian, which means “the inn for old horses”, is today a beautiful boutique hotel located on the central square of the old town of Shaxi which once served as accommodation for caravanners on the tea and horse route, linking the Xishuangbanna region to Tibet, India and Nepal, trading mainly in tea but also in salt, silver, copper, etc.
The past of this ancient caravanserai can be seen from the first steps through the old town of Shaxi, and your discovery of the Laomadian Hotel: composed of 3 superb small interior courtyards and having a facade directly overlooking the central square, the hotel contains 9 rooms (large bed and double bed) with private toilets, a tea room and a good restaurant cooking Chinese and Western dishes. The rooms are all different.
