The
Municipal museum of Kunming gathers
many bronzes items found in the
tombs from the Kunming area with
particular blades, belt buckles,
drums, and other jewel cases and
figurines. In the ground floor,
on the right hand side you can
admire a sculpted stone pillar
of various Buddhist figures dating
back to the kingdom of Dali (937-1253).
It was ordered by the Prime Minister
of the Dali kingdom for the memory
of Gaomingsheng, the former military
chief of Kunming. Upstairs, there
are some porcelains and a large
exposing hall with skeletons of
dinosaurs that coming from the
south of China. |
In
spite of some interesting archeological
items, the Municipal Museum of
Kunming makes you feel it is neglected
with a great lack of maintenance,
very few exposed parts, not so
many information in English and
the visit is rather short (probably
you can finish the visiting within
30 minutes). If you want to really
discover archeological parts and
other religious arts, it is preferable
to enter the Yunnan Provincial
Museum where is more completed
and welcoming. |
